Dis-Appointments

It was a great day of riding motorcycles with friends,
we rode hard and sprayed dirt at many big jumps, turns and bends
the day all was done loaded up and headed for home
it hit me - a room full of people
with nothing to do and alone
upset and returning
"I hadn’t even checked my phone"

Appointments we make them everyday
Getting the most done
In the most efficient way
Tho they take hard work and effort
All areas of life calendar full and marked down
Be sure to check it …
Or you will look like a fool on a motorcycle
Making loud flatulent sounds

Definition
Attempt a making certain that you get to people, places, destinations, meetings, items, purchases
That you need, when you need, scheduling

We make them so
· We might get a good deal time and price
· We make em early to get in
· To make certain it gets done
· Get more done with less distractions – more efficient
· Keep from overbooking
· Make sure others show up

However many times
· You don’t get what you think
· Trying to make them you can’t get thru
· Trying to make them you have to sit thru phone tree
· Online, newspaper, etc… isn’t the same as really what is
· Even tho marked down if you don’t look at calendar you can still miss

Not making them
· Things/people/opportunities do not get done
· Things/people/opportunities are forgotten
· Things/people/opportunities we miss out on

To Make an Appointment
· Hard work and effort
· Tenacity
· Takes time
· Takes planning
· Sometimes takes several tries

To Miss and Appointment
· Embarrassing
· Don’t like to cancel and harder to reschedule and looks like you don’t care
· Want to be known for character, care, and integrity
· End up writing stupid little poems on a blog

Appointments for every area of life

Lap Sit

Crazy Days - Consumed with packing in people – concerts, clubs, churches-pews, bathrooms, phone booth – A college fad in 1959 as many as 25 students have gotten "all or part" of their bodies into a standard phone booth

Embarrassing story – There was a woman in our church a wonderful ballet dancer. We had written a Christmas program and she was a main character which she danced throughout. Her name was Judy Lapp. In front of the church annual business meeting, I proudly exclaimed “…there’s nothing better than to have Judy Lapp dance…”

Close – Streaming Memories and Thots
· Last nite seeing my son and his cousins all piled in the chair together kinda wrestling, kinda watching tv, kinda just hanging out
· My daughter and her friend snuggled close in the car coming home the other nite from a triathlon
· Pack a pew seeing family and friends and youth crammed in a church pew
· Sitting in your dad’ lap as a child watching tv or just enjoying his company
· With Jennifer in the love seat
· My daughter sharing front seat w/ a friend in the Jeep
· My children in my lap falling asleep watching tv
· My children in my lap as babies
· Sitting behind the wheel of the car as a child
· When you sat in the lap behind the controls and felt like you were the one driving and in control
· Snuggling in front of the fireplace

My Definition Lap Sit - It is a pure picture of oneness, closeness, fellowship, love, desire, and comfort. It is sitting close, it shows the right, privilege to come near – invade space - sharing space– be close – intimacy – no personal boundaries – relaxed, restful, playful, no fear, innocent, love language of personal touch, too bad and sad that it is often inappropriate, because of lap dancing, sex offenders, abuse, horrible fathers and connotations

Devotional Thot - Sitting close to the master – check out the verse (below Rev 3:21) – the King of the universe, Father God, Creator, inviting us to sit with Him on His throne, the best chair of all, the Father of us all, calling us as individuals, His children to come, not just next too, along side, around, but with, shared! How cool, close, shared, personal, real, loving, incredible, what a picture!

Revelation 3:21
To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne

Questions to ponder
Have you been invited to sit?
How close have you been with the Master?
Is it something you look forward too?
Can you sense Him drawing you?
Will you invite others?

Other Famous Lap uses in Scripture

Luke 6:38 (good)Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Judges 16:19 (not so good)Having put him to sleep on her lap, she called a man to shave off the seven braids of his hair, and so began to subdue him. And his strength left him.

Applications –
· Be a better father
· Draw near to God… Hebrews 10:22
· Make the most of every opportunity…Colossians 4:5
· Come as a child… Matthew 18:2-4
· Enjoy the time with spouse, children, and family
· Be thankful, grateful, to God for sharing, providing, access
· Think about these things… Philippians 4:8

Anniversaries– How Long?

Last nite I was flipping channels and got to AMC Movie Classics. WOW… Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid is celebrating it’s 40th year… You know… Robert Redford and Paul Newman
Fyi – did you know steve McQueen was first selected to be Sundance?

Here’s some more 40 year anniversaries
· Human walked the moon 40 years ago
· Woodstock attracts more than 350,000 rock-n-roll fans
· Richard Nixon became president
· The very first U.S. troop withdrawals are made from Vietnam

· First transplant of human eye
· Jennifer Anniston turns 40

No, I’m way past 40 now and so is Jennifer (Biles) she turns 41 in few weeks but …

Anniversaries help us remember good and bad, a great opportunity for celebration, reflection, and sometimes a pause in silence to pray in memory of a loved one or event. Let’s make the most

It is good to remember what God has done, so we can better see what He is doing, and look forward to what He is going to do. He wanted us to remember important things and gave us special names and markers

Here’s are some big 40’s in the bible
· It rained for 40 days and 40 nights
· Noah waited another 40 days after it rained before he opened a window in the Ark
· Moses was on the mountain with God for 40 days (TWICE)
· Moses' face shone after the 40 days on the mountain.
· It took the spies 40 days to search out the promised land and bring back fruit
· The Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness, one year for each day they explored the Promised Land.
· Goliath came for forty days before being killed by David
· Elijah strengthened by one angelic meal went forty days to Mount Horeb where the Lord passed by and he heard the voice of God
· Jonah warned the City of Nineveh they had 40 days until God would overthrow the city. The people repented in those 40 days and God spared the city.
· Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness
· Jesus was seen in the earth 40 days after His crucifixion
Here is Psalm 40 celebrated in song by U2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9I9H2Y_lQA

My mom and dad’s wedding anniversary is August 18 – 40 something….
Jennifer and I celebrate our wedding anniversary in November 10 – 19 years woo hoo (almost half way to 40)

Be sure to take some time each day to pause, remember, and celebrate what God has done, doing, and going to do

The Yellow Jersey

· The top rider in the general classification category
· The rider with the fastest overall time at the end of each stage
· The rider receives kisses from attractive women on the podium

CROWNS The everlasting Tour De Life awards different crowns to the riders who excel at different disciplines during the life long race of life. Distinctive crowns so that all can identify the winners

The Crown of Righteousness
· The one who has lived a good and righteous life
· The one who has always stayed true to themselves and to the truths of God

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

The Incorruptible Crown
· The “Winners Crown”
· The one that sacrifices much and is temperate in the way they live and conduct their lives

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

The Crown of Rejoicing
· The one who shares their faith verbally and with their lives with others
· The one instrumental in leading other people to salvation

For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

The Crown of Glory
· The elders or shepherd of the church
· The teachers
· The leaders, pastors, ministers, those appointed

To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. 1 Peter 5:1-4

The Crown of Life
· The Martyr’s Crown
· The one who undergos severe hardship, testing, tribulation and/or physical death on Christ’s behalf

Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

Crowns
· Received when we finish the race (in heaven)
· Receive a prize that lasts forever – never fades or wears out
· Receives the greatest reward of eternal life through salvation alone in Jesus Christ
· Receives the rewards from the King Himself
· Receives congratulatory words “well done good and faithful servant” from the King
· Right now you can receive the good feeling and sense of approval of knowing that you are in God’s perfect will for your life, and that you are doing and accomplishing, to the best, what He wants from you on a daily basis

What Jerseys and Crowns will you receive?
Go for it

Lettuce

At what age do most kids start to like eating salad? For me it had to be somewhere in high school but before then no way. I might put some lettuce on a hamburger but that’s it. Now I can go to Super Salad, the “golden trough”, or Sweet Tomatoes and have a feast

Eat more roughage - it’s good for you

1. Adds flavor and taste
2. Adds vitamins
3. Helps weight loss
4. It’s high in fiber
5. Lowers cholesterol
6. Lowers sugar levels
7. Promotes regularity
8. Protects against cancer

“Let us” – something we do together, it reminds me of a picnic, it’s like church, or like all the women who get up as one to go to the bathroom. It’s an invitation, a call, or request.

Eat some “Let us” (from the Bible) – it’s good for you

Here are some of the more popular leaves of “let us” found

Genesis 1:26Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
1 Chronicles 19:13Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight."
Psalm 95:1Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Psalm 95:6Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
Psalm 122:1I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."
Psalm 118:24This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Romans 14:19Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
Galatians 5:25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Hebrews 4:16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Hebrews 10:22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
Hebrews 10:25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 12:1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
Hebrews 12:2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:28Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

“Let us” keep a Head of “let–us” in our hearts

Too Much Water

A few hot summer days ago while road biking a long way I drank too much water, ever heard of that? I was nauseas, tired, bloated, and had a head ache, and still thirsty.

· Hypernutremia is cause by drinking so much that you are flushing out needed electrolytes
· Hypernutremia is overhydration
· Hypernutremia can get pretty ugly one known case a guy went into a coma.
· Hypernutremia occurs most often in extreme endurance events where the individual loses not only a large amount of water but also a significant amount of electrolytes
· The best indicator of whether or not you are sufficiently hydrated is your own urine (pale, no yellow)
· A person should drink half their body weight in fluid oz of water daily

AVOID Hypernutremia by making sure you are adequately hydrated

Hyper -above, beyond, excessive (online dictionary)
Nutremia - The presence of sodium in the blood. (online dictionary)
ia – suffix - disease; pathological or abnormal condition (online dictionary)

Can you have too much God? Hyperdeimia (I may have just made up that term)

Hyper -above, beyond, excessive (online dictionary)
Dei - God
ia – suffix - disease; pathological or abnormal condition (online dictionary)

I am certain you can have…
· Too much religion
· Too much false/fake worship
· Too much talking and not enough living, doing, being, listening
· Too much church
· Too much politics
· Too much non-repsonse
· Too much unbalanced (too much mind no heart, too much heart no mind)
· Too much (fill in the blank) _______________

Can God have too much of you… are you too much for God?

INDULGE - With God -– over hydrate – Hyperdeimia - go for it
Soak yourself in His Word, in His presence, His joy over you
· You will not speak “King James”
· You will not be “holier than thou”
· Your appetite and thirst will be quenched but insatiable
· You will make a positive everlasting difference in your life and the lives around you

BONUS
· You will know that it is healthy, good and right - Taste and see that the Lord is good – Psalm 34:8
· You will know a “peace that passes understanding – Phillipians 4:7
· You will have joy unspeakable – I Peter 1:8
· You will have more joy - With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3
· You will be invited to drink - The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. Revelation 22:17
· You will invite others to Hyperdeimia
· You will want more and more - Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. Psalm 42:7
· You will be appreciative – see about one woman in - Luke 7:36-50
· You will never thirst again - Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."John 4:13-14
· You will drink forever - He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. Revelation 21:6

Dahu

A Vacation Bible School brain storming session went to “snipe hunting” which led me to a Wikipedia search that yielded many amazing, strange, humorous, fake, products, words, tools, and facts… like... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snipe)

In the snipe tradition, In the Jura Mountains, in France, tourists are sent to hunt the “dahu”, an imaginary mammal whose left legs are shorter than its right legs, so that it can walk easily along a mountain slope.

How to catch a dahu: Top 3 answers on the board

1. Call him from the back: it turns around and falls, because of its long legs on the top and his short legs on the bottom.

2. Sneak up behind him and scare him, he will turn around and fall, because of its long legs on the top and his short legs on the bottom.

3. Put a lot of ground pepper ground on a big rock; when the dahu, while grazing, comes and sniffs the pepper, he will sneeze and knock himself out on the stone.

funny and often humiliating when played as a trick but pretty much useless so… how about a few more… could you please go and get me…

· dehydrated water
· acoustic energy
· 10 feet of shore line
· a can of "squelch"
· aerosol can of 'cloud remover'
· canooter valve
· bucket of vacuum
· striped paint
· ice mix
· wooden skillet
· rattlesnake eggs

On my first blog I want to let it be known
· I don’t really want to waste any ones time
· I don’t really want to share just useless information
· I do want to in a short, easy to read, often listing way, occasionally make one smile, in a run on sentence kind of way so that we might take something from life and point it to scripture and personal application
· I desire to be sincere and make one want to look deeper into scripture, self evaluation, and God’s plan for my life and others
· We say and sing so often in church services how God is “worthy” – I believe He is worth it and so much more…. And thank Him for this opportunity
· The same is true for His Word

so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness 2 Timothy 3:16

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Psalm 145:3

In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" Revelation 5:12
