Gatekeeper
A gatekeeper is one who has the responsibility of opening the windows/doors of God’s presence
· Called “keeper’s, porters, doorkeepers, gatekeepers” I Chronicles 9:17, 19-21; 26:1,2,9, 14 therefore Ushered people into the presence of God. May we be a carpet roller for God – prepare the way, not for the notice of others, but they notice You, the King in all of Your glory and majesty
· Called Mighty men of valor = doorkeepers I Chronicles 26:6, 32
· Detailed organization I Chronicles 25 (implications for me is teams, use of people, use of all arts, all ages)
· Greeters with joy and welcome and intention I Chronicles 6:31-32. We are part of a team. There is more to the service than just the music and we need to be part of it too
· Guarding the temple to let nothing unholy enter 2 Chronicles 23:19
· Known for portraying the glory in drama and pageantry and emotion I Chronicles 16:4,37,39-42
· Known for raising the bar in music and worship 2 Chronicles 7:6; 23:18; 29:25; 35:15; Ezra 3:10; Nehemiah 12:24,36,45,46. Not in style but in praise, Spirit and truth and excellence
· Large growing group that people wanted to be a part of I Chronicles 15:17-18
· Led the army into battle with song - Jehoshaphat once assembled a choir to lead an army of worshipers into battle (2 Chronicles 20). Much like David's praise team or Jehoshaphat's worship choir – front lines of worship ministry...
· Led the procession in the sanctuary – Psalm 68:25 May we lead the way to God bold and unhindered.
· Prepared and ready at all hours of the day. They lived near for that reason. They served in rotation around the clock to stay fresh. I Chronicles 9:25,27 I Chronicles 26:13-19
· Prophesied in song. I Chronicles 25 (may we be in tune, close, near, ready to hear, ready to share boldly to the church even if it’s not popular or seems a little weird)
· Protected and Guarded the place of worship I Chronicles 9:17-32, 2 Chronicles 34:13, 35:15 (I believe in the NT days this means the building, place, facility but more so our hearts, lives, and families)
· Responsible for everything good and bad that took place natural and supernatural (I know that God is over this but my point is that many times supernatural things don’t happen because we are barriers) I Chronicles 6:31-32
· Skilled loud singers, known for great music and praise 2 Chronicles 5:12, 20:14,19, 29:1316Skilled musicians who worked there skill day and night. May we never tire in praise, and excellence for the LORD
· Skilled warriors with bow – fight for God, fight for His praise, fight for His church I Chronicles 12:6
· Worked together accountable, proud, stood up for one another. I Chronicles 15:17-18
· Writers of songs Psalms 42-49; 50; 62; 72-85 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Psalm 84:10
May we be ready, useful, and excellent doorkeepers
