Dust


Great truth: 
·        Dust is the material from which we were made.   Genesis 2:7 ESV
·        Dust is what we return to when we die.  Genesis 3:19 ESV
·        Dust is a reminder of God’s provision.  Genesis 13:16 ESV
·        Dust will even be changed in the end.  I Corinthians 15:53

Symbol of Strength

Dwell Richly

 


Colossian 3:16 - Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

Feed – First, take the Word as your daily food to nourish you each morning. You can do this very effectively by reading or praying over two or three Bible verses with spontaneous prayers of thanksgiving, praise, or petition.

Read – Spend regular, daily times to read through the Bible. It is good to read through the books of the New and Old Testament consecutively, according to a schedule. www.Youversion.com has been a useful tool to keep me on track.

Sing - Sing the Word as the psalmists and early believers did.  You can sing hymns full of Scriptures or turn the verse you’re enjoying to song. Try the Joy fm, spirit fm, Youtube, Pandora, or looking up songs from this past Sunday at church.

Speak – Find some like-minded companions today with whom you can speak the World–mutually teaching and admonishing one another.

Repeat – The verse says to “let the message of Christ dwell… richly…”  this means: in abundance, doing it often, acquire it, invest it.  The message stays and takes root and makes a difference.

Wholly

Until recently I never realized that often times when I hear the word “holy” it is actually the world “wholly”

“Wholly implies that no part is lacking; the whole person is to be kept blameless. Every aspect of human nature is to be made whole in Christ. ”

Definition - adverb

1. Entirely; totally; altogether; quite.
2. to the whole amount, extent, etc.
3. So as to comprise or involve all. 1 Kings 8:61

"Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the LORD our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day." 1 Kings 8:61

Made “fully alive” might be a good definition…hmmm
·         I am often lacking, missing
·         I am often not fully engaged
·         I am often not fully pure
·         I am often not fully blameless


It made me think of one of my childhood favorite afternoon TV shows… “Holy costume party, Batman!”

Inscribed Hands

Isaiah 49:16
Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands

In/on His hand we can be reminded that…
·         He loves us
·         He sees us / thinks about / looks at us often / He will not forget us
·         He is often reminded / like being…tied a string on His finger as a reminder/symbol
·         He provides – out of His hand
·         He holds
·         He carries
·         He lifts
·         He protects/shields/covers/surrounds/envelopes
·         He strengthens
·         He is near
·         He will not let go, or allow us to slip through
·         He is with us forever – permanent – etched – always with…
·         He sacrificed for us – we are in “nailed scared hands”

3:16 's


So there are a lot of favorite verses in the Bible as 3:16’s.  I went on line and copied the list… arranged them by my favorites… and then numbered them… 50...I wondered about the rest of the books (aren’t there 66) … like Psalms the biggest book in the Bible… Duh… I feel so stupid either they don’t have at least 3 chapters or if they do… no verse 16

Here are 10 of my favorite:
1)      1 John: This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
2)      1 Peter 3:16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
3)      1 Samuel: But Eli called him and said, "Samuel, my son." Samuel answered, "Here I am."
4)      1 Timothy: Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
5)      2 Thessalonians: Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
6)      2 Timothy: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
7)      Colossians: Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
8)      Ephesians: I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.
9)      John For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
10)  Malachi: Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name.
